iFixit did a four-minute video on the current Apple Mac Pro computer’s internals and asked the question. Still modular? The newest Mac Pro has the Apple Silicon M2 Ultra for $7000 or £7199.

Seismic chip. M2 Ultra powers every Mac Pro. Its huge unified memory GPU outperforms others. Its Media Engine features seven Afterburner cards. Apple says pros can now handle the most difficult tasks with unprecedented speed and efficiency.

The Apple Mac Pro 2023 supports up to 8 screens, has a 24-core CPU, and operates 1.8x quicker than a 28-core Intel-based Mac Pro due to Apple Silicon chip breakthroughs. Install up to 192 GB of unified RAM and a 76-core GPU for 3.4x quicker graphics if your budget allows.

Expand capacities. Apple chip performance meets PCI expansion for the first time. The new Mac Pro has seven expansion slots, six of which are PCIe gen 4, doubling bandwidth for audio, video, networking, and storage adapters. The fastest PCIe gen 4 SSD cards can reach 26GB/s.

“Mac Pro retains its striking stainless steel space frame, removable aluminum housing, and advanced thermal system after M2 Ultra. Rolling, racking, or reconfiguring it is quite stable. Apple technology makes the new Mac Pro significantly cooler and quieter under high workloads—truly a workstation you can work next to.
